Sodium tetraborate: instructions for use
To get rid of stomatitis, it is not necessary to buy expensive modern medicines. There is also a more budgetary means - sodium tetraborate (natrii tetraboras) or, as it is called in everyday life, borax in glycerin.
Back in Soviet times, the drug has established itself as an effective antiseptic. It is used for external treatment of stomatitis, vaginal candidiasis, fungal diseases of ENT organs. And also for the treatment of pressure sores and diaper rash for the purpose of disinfection.
Before using borax, you should carefully study the instructions. If you get inside only 10 g of the drug, a fatal outcome is possible. Therefore, use such a dangerous remedy with extreme caution.
Content
Composition and organoleptic properties
Borax in glycerin is produced in the form of a colorless, viscous solution with a mild specific smell and a sweetish taste. The active substance of the drug is sodium tetraborate (80%), an auxiliary component is glycerin (20%).
The medicine is sold in a darkened glass container (see photo). One bottle of the mixture is designed for 7-10 applications.
pharmachologic effect
Sodium tetraborate is a salt of boric acid, which is easily soluble in water and glycerin, but does not interact with alcohol. The chemical formula of the substance is Na2B4O7.
Sodium tetraborate has antiseptic properties. Effectively inhibits the activity of fungi, including Candida, the causative agents of thrush. It prevents the attachment of mycelium to the mucous membranes and inhibits the reproduction of pathogenic microorganisms. It is part of many anti-inflammatory drugs for the treatment of organs of the upper respiratory tract.
Borax in glycerin is intended for external use. The active substance of the drug helps only when applied to affected skin. Through the mucosa, it is absorbed into the gastrointestinal tract. And excreted through the kidneys within 7 days.
Glycerin, an additional component of sodium tetraborate, moisturizes the mucous membrane, which helps the active substance to penetrate into the deeper layers of the affected tissues. The glycerin composition has a thick consistency, which simplifies the application of the drug to the skin and allows it to stay longer on its surface. It also helps to reduce the irritating effect that boric acid salt has.

With stomatitis, sodium tetraborate solution is used for local treatment of affected areas of the oral mucosa and tongue. The procedure is recommended 3 times a day. The duration of treatment varies from three to seven days, depending on the neglect of the disease.
Treatment of the oral mucosa with sodium tetraborate is carried out according to the following instructions:
